Visitors follow in the footsteps of Carsten Niebuhr and the 1761–1767 Arabian expedition. Kiss the Frog developed a RFID driven narrative that connects the different spaces, objects, and interactions into one cohesive journey. At the start, they receive a physical key with an RFID chip, which acts as their personal guide in a playful game.
The game offers a tactile, playful gateway into the expedition’s history. Along the way, quests and mysteries from the expedition await. Visitors decode hieroglyphs, measure a pyramid using Niebuhr’s instruments, uncover hidden traces in Persepolis, and discover how the expedition’s findings were examined, documented and preserved.
At the heart of the experience is a narrative device: a mysterious djinn hidden inside an old travel chest. As a guide and storyteller, it connects the exhibition and drives visitors forward. Only by solving the expedition’s challenges can it be set free, giving the journey a sense of purpose.
Designed for families with children aged 8–12 and young adults aged 18–25, the experience combines storytelling and physical interaction. Playfulness and curiosity drive the journey, ensuring that each visitor leaves with a unique and memorable story of their own.
“We have really enjoyed working with the Kiss the Frog team. I'm sure we will collaborate again on another project.”
