TextielMuseum

In the family program ‘Draadjager’ children and adults explore the TextielMuseum (Textile Museum) together and get hands-on with textiles: designing, repairing, making, and researching among the machines, materials, and makers.

The focus of Draadjager is the fictional Draadjager family, a colourful and energetic family living in the TextielMuseum. Visitors are invited to help with questions and challenges, actively entering the world of the Draadjagers. The five activities are designed for visitors aged 8 and up, where everyone participates together and contributes from their own perspective.

Each challenge starts with an introductory video. This focuses on a different family member, their own dilemma, and a specific method of making. This is followed by an interactive activity station which is always a combination of analog and digital. Along the way, families are introduced to the museum collection and a variety of materials and textile techniques.

Visitors dive into the world of textiles, where their creativity comes to life. They design a bespoke jacket, help restore a tablecloth by weaving, craft a personal story cord, design a flag for a brand-new holiday or unravel a mystery surrounding a priceless cloth.
